| Proposal
for a New Nuclear Site at Oldbury on Severn
|
| The
most visual aspect of the proposals is the possibility of multiple
200m high cooling towers. Whilst they might not be part of the development,
they show the massive difference is scale between the nuclear site
that is there now and the one that is being proposed.

site at Oldbury, near Thornbury on the Severn Vale visit www.oldburynuclearviewpoint.org.uk

Join the adventure!
So, what’s Scouting all about ?
There is no doubt that parents value what Scouting does for their
children. In an independent survey of over 2,000 parents of Scouts,
9 out of 10 parents said Scouting is worthwhile (7 in 10 very worthwhile)
and 9 in 10 said their children find Scouting enjoyable (6 in 10 very
enjoyable).
Parents say Scouting gives their children more confidence,
responsibility, a broader set of friends, a chance to pursue things
they might not get to do otherwise, adventure and an extended family.
From a parent of a scout …..
‘Scouting helps parents prepare their kids for life’
and ‘it helps parents let go of their children.’ Gains
to children were seen to be both immediate and long-term and all
agreed that Scouting had made family life easier and they were ‘nicer
children to live with.’‘ And it’s fun!
So, who can join ?
Scouting is open to all young people aged 6 to 25 of every faith
and background. There are five Sections:
Beaver Scouts 6 - 8 year olds; Cub Scouts 8 –10 ½ year
olds; Scouts 10 ½ - 14 year olds; Explorer Scouts 14 -18
year olds; Network 18 - 25 year olds
Where can I join ?
Based in Falfield, the 1st Falfield Scout Group has the following
sections ….
Beavers meet on a Friday evening, 6.30pm –
7.30pm.
Cubs meet on a Tuesday evening, 6.30pm – 8pm.
Scouts meet on a Wednesday evening, 7pm – 9pm.
At present,
both Beavers and Cubs have vacancies, and the Scouts have a waiting
list. If you are interested in joining, please contact Jim Godden
on 07966 229018, or email jim.godden@orange.co.uk.

& Falfield Mothers Union |
| The
newly formed Cromhall & Falfield branch will meet at 2pm
in Falfield Village Hall for their first meeting on Monday
18th January. This will be a welcoming New Year party with
a Bring & Buy table and a Bring & Share tea. We hope
that this will enable us to get to know each other and be
the first of many interesting meetings.
A varied
programme has been put together by members for 2010 and meetings
will be advertised in 5 Alive. The majority of meetings will
be at 2pm on the third Monday of the month. In the summer
months we hope to have an occasional evening meeting to enable
people who are working to attend. We are always pleased to
see visitors and new members at our meetings.
