GIFT AID

In April 2000 the Chancellor of the Exchequer replaced the existing Covenant scheme with a new scheme called Gift Aid.

This new scheme is a much simpler scheme than the previous Covenant scheme. The old scheme required the donor to commit themselves to a fixed regular payment over a fixed period of 3 years. The new Gift Aid scheme allows any individual to contribute whatever they wish any payments could be either just a one off donation or a more committed giving.

For every £1 that is given via this scheme, the Church is able to claim a further 27p from the Inland Revenue.

There are only two requirements for anyone wishing to give via this scheme which is:

1.      That the individual pay income tax (As well as individuals who are in employment this could also relate to individuals who may no work but may have investments such as shares and savings).

2.      If you are interested in contributing to this scheme please click on attachment below and print off. Send the completed form to St George's Church P.C.C. c/o Whitegates, Sundayshill Lane, Falfield, Wotton under Edge, Glos. GL12 8DQ.
