ABOUT THIS WEBSITE AND THE VILLAGE
This website is designed to serve the local community in and around Falfield Village and it’s visitors. Feel free to take a look around, and let us know if you would like anything included.
If you spot any inaccuracies, broken links, typos or have any information which you feel should be added to the web site then please do draw them to our attention by using the contact page. There is much practical information and links to activities and events taking place in and around the village. You will also find information of the general history of the village and with the centenary of the start of the 1st World War you will now find information on all those remembered on the War Memorial from the Great War as well as those from the 2nd World War. Soon to be added to the history section is information on the Bombed Village at Eastwood.

For those of you not familiar with we are a small rural village with around 225 houses and a population of approx 500, although with the development of the Falfield Grange housing site off Morrslade Lane this will increase to 310. It is situated on the southern edge of the Berkeley Vale and to the east of the River Severn and the Cotswold’s to the east. It is the last parish on the northern boundary of South Gloucestershire.
The nearest town to the village is Thornbury some 5 miles away to the south. The nearest major cities are Bristol, 16 miles to the South and Gloucester 18 miles to the North
The major employer in the village is the Home Office which operates a Women’s Prison located within Eastwood Park although the majority of the working population in the village travel to either Gloucester, Bristol or Swindon to work.
The shape of the parish is long in its length and narrow in its width. Both the A38 road and M5 Motorway run through the village from north to south with access on and off of the M5 motorway from the village via junction 14.This web site is run on a voluntary basis by James Carpenter.
